Since 1999, they have been committed to preserving old world craftsmanship by hand-selecting the finest kiln-dried cherry, maple, and red oak hardwoods for their pieces. In addition, they invest in state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment while adhering to lean manufacturing methods to ensure each piece is built-to-order with precision and attention to detail. Although it may take longer to build and deliver, the lasting beauty of Handstone Furniture is well worth the wait.
The Handstone Process
Handstone Furniture’s craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of their furniture, from its look and finish to its fit and functionality. They combine old-world attention to detail with modern technology to create high-quality pieces. Each item is designed with accuracy and consistency using Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems, while state-of-the-art CNC machinery ensures precise production of components. Their panel shops rely on late-model equipment to enhance quality and reduce labor costs. To achieve the hallmark Handstone Furniture finish, they use a combination of both automated and hand sanding, followed by advanced technologies such as post-catalyzed vinyl sealers and conversion varnishes.

Handstone furniture is unique. While most consumer goods are mass-produced in far-off factories, our furniture is designed and handcrafted entirely in Canada. This approach allows us to offer a range of custom options and ensures that your purchase has a minimal impact on the environment.
The Finish
Handstone’s finishing process prioritizes sustainability by utilizing solar heat and cogeneration of electricity to minimize greenhouse gas emissions. They also recycle solvents to reduce waste sent to MOE certified processors. Before color application, raw wood is meticulously inspected and sanded with flat beam non-glare inspection lights to ensure a flawless finish. Handstone’s multistep dye and stain process involves deep penetrating NGR dye application, careful hand wiping, and shading to masterboards to achieve clear, vibrant color tones. Post catalyzed sealer and varnish are skillfully hand-sanded and applied to create a powerful, chemical-resistant finish. Finally, Handstone inspects and polishes the coating to a brilliant luster for a durable, high-quality finish.
Green Commitment
Handstone is dedicated to creating long-lasting, beautiful furniture while also caring for the environment. They achieve this by using solid wood, dovetail drawers, and premium varnish finishes, which ensures durability and extends the product’s lifespan. By doing so, they’re reducing the amount of furniture that ends up in the landfill. Additionally, they recycle the sawdust for livestock bedding and use scrap wood to heat homes.

Choose from a range of premium, kiln-dried hardwoods, choose a stain that matches your decor, and personalize your furniture with your preferred hardware and upholstery, creating a unique heirloom that reflects your style.
Custom Sizes
Customize your item to fit your unique needs. Whether you need it wider, taller, or deeper, we can make it happen. Handstone can even move drawers or remove doors to match your preferences. They’re easy-to-use costing system allows for simple pricing of basic changes. For more complex changes, a special quote will be provided. Choose a piece from their collection that matches your overall preference, and then work with Reside Furnishings to prepare a sketch of your desired changes, including measurements. Handstone’s CAD system will create a build sheet, which they’ll send to you for approval. It’s that simple. The possibilities are endless, and the choice is yours.
